Thief appears before magistrates for car crime spree
Magistrates decided a man who stole from or damaged seven cars in a three-day crime spree did not deserve to go to prison.
Matthew Pinfield was given the chance to make up for his criminal endeavours despite pleading guilty to a total of 11 charges.
He began on February 22 by stealing wing mirror casings from a BMW and the wing mirrors from a Mini, as well as a cleaning kit.
Pinfield, 26, of Lady Lane, Longford, continued on February 24 when he caused £200 worth of damage to a blue Mini and a further £200 damage to a Ford Fiesta.
Then on February 26 he damaged another Ford Fiesta and a Volkswagen Golf, both to the tune of £2,000 each, as well as stealing another cleaning kit and two wing mirrors from a Mini.
Pinfield had also admitted driving a silver VW Golf on Ansty Road without a licence, without insurance and when the vehicle didn't have a valid test certificate earlier in February.
He was handed 12 weeks in prison , suspended for a year, and also given a six-month curfew with an electronic tag from 7pm-7am.
Pinfield also had eight points endorsed on his driving licence and was also made to pay £85 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
