A car was allegedly stolen in the incident

A teenager has been arrested after alleged burglary in which a man was threatened with a hammer.

Police are investigating a report that an intruder forced their way in to a home in Daintree Croft, Cheylesmore, armed with the weapon on Tuesday, November 6.

It is alleged that the burglar then made off with a car having demanded the keys.

West Midlands Police today stated that officers executed a warrant at an address in Wood End on Thursday morning (November 15) where an 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The suspect has been released on bail to give detectives more time to gather evidence.

"He is bound by strict bail conditions including living and sleeping at a specified address, to abide by an overnight curfew, and to report to Coventry police station three times a week.

"He will reappear for questioning next month."
