Police say the suspects forced open the machines located at Whitefriars Car Park and Barracks Car Park, stealing the money inside.

The incidents happened in August and caused major disruption.

Coventry Police said in a Tweet: “Both car parks had to be shut causing a major inconvenience for those who park in the city and damage to the machines cost Coventry City Council thousands of pounds to replace and repair.

“Police investigating the matter have now released images of two suspects and are appealing for information.

“If you recognise the two people pictured please contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight, call 101 anytime or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Please quote crime number 20CV/195265Z/18.”

So, rather than let motorists have free parking for a day the council shut the car parks. Sounds about right for this council.
