He has been detained under the Mental Health Act
The driver involved in the collision which led to the death of a young road worker has been sectioned.
Warwickshire Police Force has confirmed that a 41-year-old man, who has not been identified, has been detained under the Mental Health Act following the incident.
He was the driver involved in the tragic collision which led to the death of one man and serious injuries to another in Ansley Road on Friday morning.
According to the force spokesperson the man who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene was aged 22 and from Dudley.
A fellow Highways worker, who has not been identified but is aged in his 40s, remains in hospital. He suffered "extremely serious" injuries in the collision.
Police were called shortly before 10.35am on Friday, September 14, to a report of a road traffic collision involving two road workers on Ansley Road, Nuneaton.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent four ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.
Sadly, the 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man in his 40s received specialist trauma care for multiple serious injuries. He was anaesthetised to stabilise his condition before being transported to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by land ambulance in a serious condition.
