There have been two cases of people contracting the disease at the 'Piv - which has now closed while works take place
Two cases of lethal Legionnaires' disease have forced a popular Nuneaton club to temporarily close.
Public Health England (PHE) has told CoventryLive there have been two cases of the disease linked to the Stockingford Pavilion, known locally as the 'Piv.
Two cricket players, from Berkswell Cricket Club, contracted the disease from showers in the club's changing rooms.
The pair, who have not been identified, are said to be 'recovering well'.
In the meantime, as the disease was found in the club's plumbing, committee members at the popular club took the decision to close yesterday.
This is allow for the club's old water system to be ripped out and a new one installed.
Bosses at PHE have been quick to stress that there is no threat of the disease spreading to those who live nearby.
The cases came to light following a cricket game between Stockingford and Haunchwood 1sts and Berkswell 3rds at the 'Piv on July 7.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council officers took samples from the water system and test results concluded that there was Legionella present in the water system.
Yesterday, following advise from PHE, the club took the decision to close - and it is unclear when it will re-open.
