Football is not coming home - and England is gutted

The country is out of the World Cup after a nail-biting semi-final against Croatia, losing 2-1 in extra time.

It was definitely a game of two halves - and almost too much to bare for the scores of England fans who flooded into The Empire in Far Gosford Street to watch the match.

Kieran Trippier's early goal sealed the positive mood early on, with England fans sure football was coming home.

Beer and inflatable footballs went flying as the inevitable celebrations started.

The England boys had chance after chance in the first half, and the crowd at The Empire thought more goals were coming our way for sure in the second half.

But it was not to be.

It was heartbreaking for those watching at home, and those on the pitch.

The odds were stacking higher as every minute passed and in the end it was just too much to ask.

Croatia drew level, leaving us clinging on to the hopes of extra time and even the dreaded penalties.

When it looked almost certain that we'd be going to the spot, Croatia netted another one and ended the nation's dreams of another World Cup win for England.
