The brand new tea room in hidden beauty spot

It is tucked away in a beautiful spot near the Cathedral ruins



Coventry is about to get one of the most idyllic tea rooms the city can experience.

Castle Yard Tea Rooms had their grand opening on Thursday, which saw people from across Coventry visit.

However, this is a team room with a difference - and a very gorgeous view.

Set in the idyllic Castle Yard Courtyard, it is a hidden gem located in the heritage quarter of the city just off High Street and Broadgate.

The tea room has a spectacular view of the Cathedral spire, and historic surrounding buildings.

Available at the tea rooms will be the iconic Chimney cake, which proved extremely popular at Coventry Food Festival last weekend.

Trish Willetts, Director of Coventry BID, said it is a great addition for the city.

She said: "It is a beautiful place.

"The courtyard area is just so clean and beautiful.

"People can have a stroll around the Cathedral and the ruins on a lovely sunny day and then go and sit outside in the hidden courtyard.

"Everyone can peacefully sit down and enjoy speciality teas, coffees and gorgeous cake which is baked on site.

"The smells are beautiful, and the Chimney cake is a real favourite.

"It makes it like a Stratford Upon Avon in Coventry."

The tea rooms are independently run, and have replaces the former CVOne offices which have been left empty for the last five years.

I can remember when Coventry still had more medieval buildings than Stratford: New Street, Jordan Well, Gosford Street.
The council pulled them all down to create the art college.
