These two adorable puppies have been found abandoned at a Coventry park.

The eight-week-old Jack Russell pups had been dumped and were found wandering around Coundon Hall Park, in Waste Lane, by a member of the public.

They were with their mother and a crossbreed and the RSPCA were immediately called, with the charity describing the actions of whoever dumped them as “irresponsible and cruel”.

The four dogs were found on Saturday, March 10.

RSPCA Inspector Nicky Foster said: “A member of public found the dogs at the recreation ground and was concerned they’d been abandoned.

“One of the dogs had two young puppies with her and the other was suffering from mange [a parasite] so had significant fur loss and some sore patches of skin.”

The dogs - a Jack Russell terrier called Poppy and her two eight-week-old pups, Tulip and Iris, and a young crossbreed called Willow - were taken in by the RSPCA’s Coventry, Nuneaton and District Branch.

Willow is now under veterinary care and the rest of the dogs are doing well.

“The dogs weren’t microchipped and we’ve got no idea where they came from,” Inspector Foster said.

“It’s completely irresponsible and cruel to abandon these dogs - especially the young, vulnerable puppies - like this.

“The weather has been so cold recently that it makes it even more unbelievable that someone could dump their pet like this.

“I’d like to find out who is responsible for abandoning these dogs so would urge anyone who might recognise them or has any information about what happened to them to get in touch with us by calling our appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”

If no-one comes forward to claim the dogs then RSPCA Coventry will rehome them once they are old enough and healthy enough.
