Nearly 400 student flats could be built on a disused office site in Coventry.

A planning application has been submitted to Coventry City Council to build the flats in Westwood Way, Westwood Heath.

The site at 1 The Oaks hasn’t been used for four years, but the developers say it’s an ideal location for student accommodation.

McClaren Property say it’s a short walk (20 minutes) and cycle (6 minutes) from the University of Warwick, and is located away from residential areas.

It is also next to the WMG Academy for Young Engineers.

In their submission to the city council, the developers say they will provide:

    - 382 contemporary and attractive student accommodation units, providing a modern, purpose-built alternative for student living to traditional family homes

    - A sustainable development, close to the University of Warwick, with on-site bicycle storage, excellent pedestrian links and easy access to local bus services

    - High quality scheme design that utilises the natural topography of the site, bolstered by a comprehensive landscaping scheme across the site

    - An exceptional student experience in a secure environment, managed by an experienced student living operator
The plans are yet to be approved by Coventry City Council.
