The council are expected to make a decision on when collections will resume this afternoon
Coventry City Council will not be collecting the bins today due to the treacherous ice and snow, leaving many wondering how long they are to be left with their rubbish.
With Christmas only two weeks away it has left some residents concerned that their rubbish may not be collected until the new year.
Temperatures plummeted to minus ten overnight in the West Midlands leaving roads and footpaths in a dangerous way.
Council gritting on the main roads meant many drivers were able to make their usual journeys this morning but untreated areas are still very icy and dangerous.
The council have not yet confirmed when collections will resume but told the Telegraph that they will be announcing their decision late this afternoon so they can continue to monitor the weather conditions until then.
This morning the council tweeted: “Due to the adverse weather conditions, we have decided to suspend bin collections, including commercial waste collections, today - Tuesday December 12.
“We will keep a close eye on the conditions and post updates here. Thanks for your patience.”
