The proposed shop would be on the ground floor of Millennium View, a 391-bed complex which opened last month
A convenience store is set to open in a new student development in Coventry city centre.
Shopkeeper Ricky Dougall has applied for a premises licence for a Nisa store at Millennium View, on the corner of Hales Street and Trinity Street.
Mr Dougall and his family already run Nisa Dougalls in St George’s Road, Lower Stoke.
The proposed shop would take up the vacant corner of the 391-bed development which only opened last month.
It would be open from 6.30am to midnight seven days a week, and sell alcohol for consumption off the premises between the same times.
The ability to serve ‘late night refreshment’ between 11pm and midnight is also proposed, although no other details about what this means are currently available.
Conditions of the licence would include CCTV inside and out, refusing to sell alcohol to “drunken people” and asking for proof of age ID for tobacco and booze.
People have until October 23 to comment on the proposals.
