A woman has been seriously sexually assaulted on a path in Coventry.

The 20-year-old was attacked at about 1215 BST on Saturday behind the Village Hotel, near Hearsall Common, on a path between Tile Hill Lane and Canley Road.

Her attacker was a white man, possibly dressed in a hooded top, police said. They want to speak to anyone who saw the woman before or after the attack.

They said she was wearing a black top with black shorts and was struggling to walk in black, stiletto ankle boots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police or call Crimestoppers anonymously.

If you see the following described man, please contact PC 20513 Jessica Short on 07834 181056 and provide her with the time, day, date and location of your observations. The man in question is described as white, aged 25-30 years, 5'10" tall, with dirty ginger stubble. He is of medium build and was wearing a navy hoody and white baseball cap. When last seen he stank heavily of alcohol and his general appearance was of a homeless person. Previous sightings of this man suggest he tends to hang around the area of Hearsall Common as well as nearby allotments. Please do not approach this individual under any circumstances but, as previously requested, call PC Jessica Short, or you can call the police on 0345 113 5000, extension 7931 6149, or ask to be put through to Coventry Central Response Team Office.
