No arrests made after Hillfields stabbing that left man 'blood-soaked'

Police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was stabbed in a Hillfields street.

Armed police were called to Coronation Road on Thursday, July 20, and a man was seen with a “blood-soaked” bandage on his head shortly after 4pm.

West Midlands Police confirmed that a man was stabbed during an attack and was taken to hospital. His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The force, who previously said armed police had been sent to the scene as “a precaution”, have now stated that no arrests have been made.

One eyewitness who saw the aftermath of the stabbing described how people had come to the aid of the man immediately after the attack.

Mani Dhillon said: “I did not see the stabbing. I was inside and heard shouting outside.

“When I looked outside the attackers had fled. The stabbed man was with a small group of people who rushed him into a nearby building.

“His friends called emergency services who arrived within minutes.

“The crime scene was cordoned off with armed police and police dogs searching the area.

“After about 30 minutes the victim left the flat and was able to walk to the ambulance. He had a blood soaked bandage on top of his head.”

Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
