A 35-year-old man who threatened to set fire to a woman’s apartment escaped with just a fine and a slap on the wrist from the courts.
Magistrates heard Hunter Sawyer, of Harnall Lane West, Foleshill, admit to making the threats on March 8 this year in Coventry.
But despite his guilty plea to a charge of threatening the victim that arson would be caused to her apartment, Sawyer was only fined £60 and given a community order including a rehabilitation activity requirement.
He also had to pay £135 in court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
