Woman's terror as air-rifle thug blasts her car in late night attack

She was on her way home when a man stepped out in front of her started shooting

A woman who was shot at with an air rifle says the image of the barrels directed at her has been burnt into her mind.

The woman said she was on her way home from dropping a friend off after a night out when a man came out in front of her car and started shooting at her car in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She said the pellets hitting the car sounded like a large stone hitting the car.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “I had picked up my husband and his friend from a night out when it all happened.

“I was just pulling off from the side of the road down Harnall Lane East, and as I looked up there was a slim white male with his staffy dog walking in the road towards me and he had a large long thing what looked like black gun.

“He raised the gun and pointed it straight at us. My thought was to get away as soon as possible. The image of the barrels directed at us has been burnt into my mind.”

Luckily, the woman and her husband suffered no injuries and there was no damage done to the car.

She added: “It happened very quickly and as we passed I heard a loud sound on the window next to my head. It was like a large stone hitting the car.

“Strangely there is no damage. We are now assuming it was probably a air rifle.

“I phoned the police and they said stay there and they will come to us.

“Ten minutes later they rang me back for more details and after 40 minutes they arrived to us after looking around.”

She said she fears for the people coming out of the Kasbah nightclub, which isn’t far away in Primrose Hill Street.

She said: “Our fear is for people coming from the nightclub. Also the guy had a real evil look in his eyes which concerns me as someone could get very seriously hurt.”

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “We were called to Harnall Lane East, Coventry at around 3.45am on 12 February following reports of a man with an air rifle.

“An area search was made by officers but the man was not located.

“There were no reports of anyone injured.”

No damage? I'd have expected damage of some sort.

Me to as one broke my kitchen double glazed window just missing my head holding my baby years ago it was 2 lads firing an air rifle from a flat balcony opposite . My partner at the time dropped to the floor I went out to investigate while my partner hid with the baby he thought the Glasgow mob had found him which I knew nothing about .
