Family pay tearful tribute to Henley Green murder victim
The family of a man who was found murdered at a house in Henley Green today paid tribute to a ‘loving uncle.’
Luke Baxter paid tribute to his uncle Stephen Raymond Baxter, 50, who was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Paramedics were called to the home in Henley Road near the junction of Monkswood Crescent at 3.30am to reports of a man in cardiac arrest.
Police have launched a murder investigation and arrested a 54-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.
One of Stephen's nephews said Stephen would always put his family first.
Mr Baxter said: “My uncle was such a happy man. He put all our family first and we will miss him dearly.
“He didn’t have any children, but myself and his two other nephews meant the world to him.
“We were like his own children, and he treated us like it too.
“He loved going for walks down the canal, spending time with his family and he was always so happy with us.
“I was so close to him, we are all such a close family and I just can’t believe he is gone.”
In a heartbreaking twist, the Baxter family were grieving the death of his uncle’s brother - Luke’s father - who died a year ago on Tuesday.
He said: “We lost him, and now we have lost another one of our family a year and a day later.
“The whole family will need time to grieve.
“My message to Uncle Stephen is I will always love you and remember you.”
A murder investigation is now underway after a 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Forensics were at the house for several hours gathering evidence, but police are continuing their investigations.
Det Insp Paul Joyce said; “We are looking into the circumstances and at this stage are keeping an open mind.
“We would like anyone with any information to contact 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
One neighbour told how that there were regular disturbances at the house where it is believed the man died.
The neighbour said the man and woman who lived there weren’t married, but were living as a couple.
“I only heard what was going on when my dogs woke me up barking,” she said.
Another neighbour who didn’t wish to be identified said: “I didn’t know anything had even happened until I saw the police van parked outside.
“There has been some trouble before at that house, we have heard regular disturbances.”
