Boy arrested after walking up to police while smoking SPLIFF

Police arrested the 16-year-old outside the Belgrade Theatre

A dopey teenager was arrested after approaching police officers in Coventry city centre - while smoking a spliff.

Officers were confronted by the 16-year-old boy, who had “glazed eyes and smelt of cannabis”, outside the Belgrade Theatre on Monday afternoon.

After being told he would be searched, the youngster was said to have become “nervous”.

Police discovered five bags of cannabis in his pockets and rucksack.

A post on Twitter from the Coventry City Police neighbourhood team described the packages as “deal size bags”.

The boy has been bailed until a date in January, while police make further inquiries.
