Man arrested after police car chase ends in crash in Coventry
A man has been arrested after a suspected stolen car crashed in Coventry, leaving one person in hospital.
The Skoda Fabia is believed to have been stolen in Nuneaton on Sunday night before police gave chase as the car made its way to Coventry.
The pursuit ended when the car crashed at the junction of Terry Road and Humber Road, Stoke, at around 9.10pm.
Warwickshire Police say they have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and possession of a class A drug.
He was being questioned by detectives last night.
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Officers were involved in the pursuit of a vehicle which had been reported stolen from Tuttle Hill, Nuneaton, on Sunday night.
“The grey Skoda Fabia estate failed to stop for police and continued to travel into Coventry where it was involved in a serious collision in Humber Road at about 9.10pm.
“A passenger from the vehicle was taken to University Hospital in Coventry with leg injuries.”
The Professional Standards Department of Warwickshire Police has been made aware of the incident due to the force’s involvement before the collision.
