Police are investigating the terrifying ordeal
A carer has told of the moment she came face-to-face with a man holding a knife as she showered a woman in her 80s.
Karen Rewhorn was beginning her daily rounds at a home in Hothorpe Close, Ernesford Grange, on Tuesday when a would-be robber broke in to the house.
After a short confrontation the man left empty-handed, but Karen, who has been a carer for around 16 years, is warning people to be on their guard.
She said: “I was showering the lady upstairs and I thought I could hear noises downstairs, so I shouted down thinking it must be a family member.
“Then I came face-to-face with this person who had started to come upstairs with a knife before he then left.
“I want carers and elderly people to be extra careful. The lady I was with said thank God I was there.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating reports of an attempted burglary in Hothorpe Close, Coventry, between 8.50am and 9.10am on Tuesday October 18.
“No-one has been arrested at this stage and anyone with information is asked to call 101.”
