Delays on railways after reports of person struck by train at Nuneaton

A replacement bus service is running between Coventry and Nuneaton after incident closed lines

A number of trains have been delayed between Coventry and Nuneaton after reports of somebody being struck by a train.

Emergency services, including the British Transport Police, were called to the tracks near to Nuneaton station at around 6.15pm this evening.

The incident is now over and the Telegraph are waiting for more information on the exact nature of what happened.

A number of lines were closed for around 30 minutes and services ran by Cross Country, London Midland and Virgin Trains were all affected.

A spokesman for London Midland said: “As soon as we can we will start the Nuneaton- Coventry train again. In the meantime we have ordered bus replacement as standard for any disruption on this line.

“These will remain in place to pick up passengers whilst the first trains run. Updates will be provided by audio announcement and on information screens.”

The incident comes just days after a pensioner died after being struck by a train at Coventry railway station.

No fatality on train line after incident in Nuneaton

POLICE have confirmed that no one was fatally injured during an incident at Nuneaton Railway Station.

As reported online there were major delays for all services coming through Nuneaton at 6.15pm.

British Transport Police (BTP) have now confirmed that someone was struck by a train, but there were no fatalities.

In a series of tweets BTP said: "At about 18.10 a person was struck by a train at Nuneaton Railway Station.

"British Transport Police together with colleaguesfrom Warwickshire Police and the ambulance service attended the scene and a person has subsequently been taken to hospital.

"The matter is not being treated as suspicious & anyone with any information should contact the British Transport Police on 0800 405 040."

A number of trains had delayed between Coventry and Nuneaton after reports of somebody being struck by a train.

Passengers as far afield as Tamworth and beyond were sat waiting on trains for the all clear to be given and this had a knock on effect and delays.

Police and paramedics were at the scene and replacement buses had to be put on.
