Man left unconscious following collision with train at Coventry railway Station

Trains through the station are likely to be delayed or cancelled

A man has been left unconscious following a collision with a train at Coventry railway station .

Emergency services were called to reports of a ‘collision between a train and a pedestrian’ at around 12.50pm.

The man was found to be unconscious but breathing.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “There’s not a lot on it at the moment given the job is quite new.

“We were called to the train station to reports of a collision between a train and a pedestrian.

“The patient is unconscious but breathing.”

A spokesman from British Transport Police added: "Officers attended and supported ambulance staff administering emergency treatment. A man has since been transported to hospital.

"We are working to identify the man and inform his family.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."

Other services, including Virgin Trains and Crosscountry Trains, have also been delayed.

Pensioner dies after being struck by a train at Coventry Station

An elderly man has died after being struck by a train at Coventry Station.

Emergency services were called to an incident involving a 72-year-old man at around 12.50pm on Tuesday, July 12.

Reports were received by British Transport Police of a "collision between a train and a pedestrian".

The man was found to be unconscious but breathing with serious injuries.

Sadly he died after being transported to University Hospital Coventry.

A spokesman from the British Transport Police said: “Officers attended and supported ambulance staff administering emergency treatment.

“The man was transported to hospital but later died from his injuries.

“His family have been informed.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The incident caused delays and cancellations to trains travelling through Coventry between 1pm and 4pm.
