Bass player for The Prophets attacked near to the Malinka supermarket in the early hours of Sunday morning

A popular Coventry musician has been hospitalised after being attacked by a group of men in the early hours of this morning.
Nathan Gummery, bass player for Coventry band The Prophets, was beaten up by the mob near to the Malinka supermarket on Holbrook Lane just after midnight.
The victim’s injuries were not thought to be serious at first, but his condition later deteriorated and he had to be taken to hospital where he is now in a stable condition.
A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “Police are investigating after a man was attacked in the Holbrooks area of Coventry in the early hours of this morning.
“The 26-year-old was walking on Holbrook Lane near the Malinka supermarket just after midnight when he was approached by several men aged around 18 who punched him to the floor.
“Officers were quickly on scene but the suspects had run off, one of the offenders is believed to have been wearing white shorts.
“The man was initially deemed to have minor injuries, however his condition worsened later in the evening and he was admitted to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.”
A message on the official Facebook page for The Prophets paid tribute to the band’s bass player.
It read: “Our best friend / bass player Nathan was attacked last night after he finished work by six vile people in Holbrooks, Coventry.
“Nath has been in intensive care since last night, we’re all praying he’s back to his normal self and kicking ass again on stage in no time. Please keep him in your thoughts and send him all the love you possibly can right now. We love you.”
It later added: “We’ve just got back from seeing Nath in critical care. He’s doing really well and making a great start to recovery, it even looks like he’ll be home by tonight!
“We’re so grateful that he’s doing OK, thank you to everyone that has shown such phenomenal support towards Nathan today.”
Fans flocked to Facebook to wish Mr Gummery well with scores of get well soon messages appearing on the post.

The Prophets guitarist out of hospital after being attacked by gang in street
A popular musician who was attacked in Coventry as he walked home from work is now out of hospital.
Nathan Gummery was beaten up by a gang in Holbrook Lane, Holbrooks, shortly after midnight on Sunday and was taken to hospital where he was placed in intensive care.
The 26-year-old, who is the bass player for Coventry band The Prophets, spent last night being cared for but has now recovered enough to be let home.
The incident happened near to the Malinka supermarket in Holbrooks and Mr Gummery is believed to have been attacked by up to six people.
