Police helicopter dispatched to search for a driver who fled from officer

Police have recovered the car but are still looking for the driver who failed to stop for them

Police are looking for the driver of a car who failed to stop for them in Radford Road this afternoon.

The incident began at 2.40pm however West Midlands Police had no information available on why the car was being persued.

A police helicopter was dispatched to help officers locate the car.

A spokesman for the service said: "There was a car which failed to stop for officers on Radford Road .

"A police helicopter was up for that.

"The vehicle was recovered by it doesn't look like any one is in custody.

"They're now looking for the driver of the car".

Woman shot at with BB gun in ‘targeted' Radford attack

A woman was shot at with a BB gun in a ‘targeted attack’ while she was driving in Coventry on Saturday.

The shots were fired into a Nissan Juke on Barnaby Road, Radford, at around 1.15pm,

An hour afterwards a vehicle suspected to be involved in the incident failed to stop for police who followed the car before it was abandoned.

The driver then escaped after a chase over wasteland despite a police helicopter being called out to help with the search.

A police spokesman said: “A 26-year-old woman who was subject to the targeted attack did not require medical attention.

“However, the car windows were damaged during the incident.

“Around an hour after the attack took place, a black Volkeswagen golf thought to be connected to the incident, failed to stop for officers on Foster road.

“The car was followed, but shortly later abandoned on Murray Road.

“Officers chased the suspect over wasteland but they managed to escape.”

The vehicle has been seized by police and taken to a secure compound for forensics.
