The worker was hit in the face by the item at the B&Q store in Holyhead Road
A man tried to steal a drill from a Coventry DIY store before throwing it in the face of a member of staff.
The would-be thief entered the B&Q store in Holyhead Road, Coundon, and tried to walk out with the drill which was still inside its box.
When challenged by a member of staff at around 5.50pm on Thursday February 11, the man threw the box at the worker, hitting him in the face, before leaving without the drill.
No details have been released about any injuries suffered.
Police have released CCTV footage of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident and are urging him to call them on 101, ext 834 3076.
