Warning after "skimming" device found at Coventry cashpoint

People are being urged to be on their guard after a “skimming” device was found at a cashpoint in Coventry.

An eagle-eyed customer spotted the car cloning device at the NatWest ATM in Earlsdon Street, Earlsdon, on Wednesday night.

They managed to remove the device from the ATM and hand it over to police.

Advice from officers to cash machine users is to always be aware of who is around them and to always cover your pin.

Anyone who notices anything suspicious is asked to call Coventry Police on 101.

Second recording device found at cashpoint in Coventry

A recording device has been found at another cash machine in Coventry.

Police were called to the Barclays bank in Walsgrave Road, Stoke, on Friday morning after the device was spotted above an ATM.

No money is believed to have been lost and officers from Coventry Police are now investigating.

The discovery comes after a recording device was found at the NatWest ATM in Earlsdon Street, Earlsdon, on Wednesday February 24.

A spokesman for West Midland Police said of the Barclays incident: “Four cards were lost in the ATM - the bank retained three and the fourth was recovered by police.

“The device has been seized and officers from force CID are investigating.

“Officers advise ATM users to take extra care when withdrawing cash by shielding the keypad while they enter their PIN and to be aware of anyone acting suspiciously around them.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
