Irate customer who smashed up Coventry betting shop appears in court

A punter who smashed up a Coventry bookies with a metal stool and caused £2,300-worth of damage has been sentenced at court.

Karzan Ahmed admitted causing the damage at the William Hill shop, in Far Gosford Street, which was caught on CCTV.

The 35-year-old from Chace Avenue, Willenhall, was seen picking up a large stool at around 8.20pm on Friday, November 27, and smashing it against a gambling machine three times, before turning his attention to the glass window by the tills.

He also admitted causing damage to the front door of the store and was handed a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work at Coventry Magistrates Court.

He was also ordered to pay £100 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
