"Arsonists" torch 30 old domestic appliances in Coventry service yard

Arsonists torched a pile of old washing machines and fridges in Coventry this morning.

Firefighters were called to a service yard at the back of Currys, on the Alvis Retail Park, in Holyhead Road, Coundon, at about 12.30am.
Simon Winnett, watch commander at Radford Road fire station, said about 30 old appliances were involved.
Crews were at the scene for about 45 minutes.
A police dog team was also scrambled but Mr Winnett said he did not believe those responsible for the fire could be found.
