Arsonists destroy one car and try to torch another in Stoke

Arsonists torched one car and tried to set another alight in a quiet residential Coventry street.



Fire crews from Binley were called to Grant Road, Stoke , just after midnight this morning to reports of a car fire.

When they arrived they found one vehicle, a Renault Scenic, on fire.

They also spotted a second vehicle with a smouldering rag on top of it - with firefighters suggesting that arsonists had tried and failed to destroy that car too.

Fire crews spent around 45 minutes tackling the blaze.

Police have launched an investigation into the arson attack and are urging anyone with information, or anyone who saw anything suspicious at around the time of the blaze, to call them on 101.
