A main road in Coventry will be partially closed as eight 20-tonne bridge beams are lifted into place as part of a £105m roundabout project.

Work to enlarge the Tollbar End roundabout is due to end in 2016.

The beams, the equivalent of 13 double-decker buses, will be lifted into place on the western bridge this weekend.

The A45 Stonebridge Highway westbound between the roundabout and Stivichall junction will be closed on Saturday and Sunday evening.

It will be shut until 09:00 BST on Sunday and from 20:00 BST on Sunday to 06:00 BST on Monday.

A 500-tonne crane will be used to lift and position the beams.

Highways England said people were advised to allow extra time for their journeys and it had planned the work to take place overnight to keep the impact on drivers to a minimum.

Work on the Tollbar End roundabout scheme began in November 2013.
