A woman has been airlifted to hospital after a multiple vehicle crash on the M6 in Coventry.
Two lorries and three cars collided between junctions 3 and 2 on the southbound carriageway, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
One car suffered significant damage and debris was strewn across the carriageway.
The woman in her 40s, who was trapped in one of the cars, suffered back and chest injuries.
A man driving one of the other cars and the two lorry drivers, both men in their 50s, all suffered relatively minor injuries, the spokesman said.
All three were treated at the scene before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.
A fourth man suffered very minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
The accident, at 1000 GMT, caused delays on the roads around Nuneaton and Coventry.
