Police have launched an investigation after shots were fired in a quiet residential street.
Residents in Cowley Road, Wyken, Coventry dialled 999 when they heard gunshots in the early hours today.
No-one is believed to have been hurt in the incident but police say they are still taking it “very seriously”.
It’s understood that the shooting was captured on a private CCTV camera set up in the road.
The footage - which has now been seized by officers - shows a car driving up the road and three shots being fired towards a property.
After police were called to the road just after midnight they set up a cordon before starting a fingertip search at dawn.
So far no arrests have been made.
Det Chief Insp Matt Markham from Coventry Police said: “We are taking this report very seriously and would ask anyone who could provide us with any more information to contact us as soon as possible.
“An investigation has been launched and officers remained at the scene yesterday morning to carry out a thorough search of the area.
“It appears that this was an isolated incident and nobody has been injured.”
Most residents in Cowley Road had no idea what had happened overnight - with many telling the Telegraph they slept through the suspected shooting.
One woman, who didn’t want to give her name, said: “None of the neighbours round here had a clue what was happening.
“Many only realised they were inside a police cordon when they opened the curtains.
“Everyone was texting one another asking if they knew what had happened.
“The way the road was being searched made me think someone must have been killed.
“I didn’t hear any gun shots but I did hear police cars going up and down the street.
“It’s normally such a quiet road - we had a few break ins a couple of years ago but nothing like this.”
