A chip shop where a blade was served in a portion of chips has been prosecuted for breaching hygiene standards.
Venus Fish Bar's owners were charged with eight hygiene-related charges at the Holbrook Lane site.
Amarjit Bhambra 56, of The Spinney, Kenilworth Road, and Davinder Singh Bhambra, 60, of Leamington Road, pleaded guilty on all counts.
Each was ordered to pay £1,950, costs of £635.50 each and a victim surcharge of £15.
Among the charges were selling unsafe food after a piece of embedded blade from a faulty chipper was found in a potato chip.
The issues were first raised after a routine hygiene inspection in May last year saw chicken being stored at 55C when the requirement is 63C or above.
Five counts of failure to comply with a hygiene improvement notice were also made against the pair.
New council deputy leader, Coun Phil Townshend, who continues his role as cabinet member for community safety, said prosecution was a last resort.
"The majority of restaurants and takeaways across the city follow the acceptable high levels of hygiene - but any found to be operating below this standard we will prosecute.
"We take our responsibility seriously and carry out regular hygiene inspections on local restaurants and cafes to ensure the safety of all customers and users in the city."
