MORE than 500 people have so far signed a petition calling for traffic calming measures in the Whoberley ward.
Residents are petitioning Coventry City Council to “support road safety in Whoberley”, particularly Greendale Road, Brookside Avenue, Wildcroft Road and Whitaker Road.
Coun Bally Singh has lodged the petition after “several accidents and near misses”.
Suggestions by residents have included installing traffic lights and bringing in a 20mph speed limit for the roads concerned.
Coun Singh said: “Hundreds of people have signed the petition calling for improved road safety in these normally quiet residential streets.
“Speeding cars have been highlighted as the main culprit of recent accidents and near misses, so any measures that are put in place to reduce speeding will be widely welcomed by the community in Whoberley Ward.”
An e-petition on the issue has also been submitted to Coventry City Council’s website.
