Staff at pharmacy chain Lloyds have been warned about possible jobs cuts at its headquarters in Coventry.
The company said a reduction in government funding in the community pharmacy sector has prompted a "review of requirements".
It is thought about 800 people are employed at its head office at the Walsgrave Triangle. There are 1,700 Lloydspharmacy stores in the UK.
A spokesman said a 30-day consultation with staff had started.
In a statement, a spokesman said the company needed to adapt to "competitive and funding challenges".
"In order to bring about the organisational change required, and to ensure that the customer is at the heart of everything we do, a number of organisational adjustments need to be made and this has prompted a review of requirements across several of head office functions," he said.
