Disabled man assaulted in Earlsdon

Tue Sep 04, 2012 1:47 pm

A disabled man suffered a humiliating attack in a Coventry street earlier this month when two men shouted abuse at him in the street.

The 38-year-old victim, who is partially blind and suffers from Aspergers Syndrome, was walking along Bloomfield Road in Earlsdon at around 8.40pm on Friday 10 August, when he heard two men shouting abuse at him.

The two men then grabbed the victim’s t-shirt and spat in his face, before running away.

PC Chow Chan, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a disturbing attack on a defenceless and vulnerable member of the community.

“The actions of these men were cowardly and despicable, leaving the victim very intimidated and distressed.

“Although these type of incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and we are urging anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward to help us trace those responsible.”

Anyone with information can contact Willenhall Police Station on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
