Detectives in Coventry are appealing to the public to find the owner or owners of three sets of house keys.

The keys were found at the home of a man arrested on Tuesday 10 July following the theft of a car during a burglary in Coventry.

As part of the investigation officers searched the man's property and suspect the keys they found may be linked to other crimes in the Solihull or Coventry areas.

Despite the efforts of officers to locate the owners of the keys, or a crime they may be linked to, they so far remain unidentified.

One of the sets of keys has a distinctive Superman rubber key ring which officers believe someone may recognise.

Detective Constable Joel Mildinhall from the force's Criminal Investigation Department said: "Have you, a family member or friend been the victim of crime where house keys were stolen? Have you seen someone with a similar superman key ring?

"We appreciate that if these keys relate to a burglary then it is likely the home owners will have changed their locks since. However even this information could assist greatly with our ongoing investigation.

"With the public's help I'm confident that we can not only solve this mystery but also progress our ongoing enquiries into how this man came into possession of them."

Anybody who believes that the keys may belong to them is asked to contact the Serious Acquisitive Crime team at Willenhall police station on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Two men aged 19 and 22 are currently on police bail as part of the ongoing investigation.
