Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council pay outstanding wages

Tue Jul 17, 2012 2:51 pm

The majority of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council staff have now been paid following an administrative error that led to a delay.

About 900 staff were told on Monday that they may not receive their money until Wednesday at the latest.

Warwickshire County Council said over 95% of staff had since got their wages.

The council is working closely with remaining staff members to organise alternative payments, said a council spokesperson.

John Betts, head of finance for the county council said: "We reiterate our wholehearted apologies."

Public services union Unison said on Monday that the error was "unacceptable".

"We're living in a time when people can't afford to not have their salary," Unison representative Sonia Burgher had said.
