Dust off your bucket and spade – the beach is back in Coventry for another week of half-term fun for all the family.

The popular urban seaside attraction has returned to the city following the success of last year’s event in Shelton Square.

But this year, the beach has moved to the newly pedestrianised Broadgate – where it is surrounded by an array of fun activities for kids of all ages.

Traditional Punch and Judy shows will be held, along with train rides, bumper boats and a a surf board simulator.

It runs from 10am until 4pm every day to keep children entertained during the holiday.

Councillor Lynnette Kelly, cabinet member of city development, said: “Last year the beach went down really well but we have moved it to Broadgate because we have this wonderful open space where children can run around safely and really enjoy themselves.

“Because of Coventry’s central location, it is not easy for people to get to the seaside.

“To be able to bring the beach to Coventry is fantastic and it will be a lot fun.”
