The team, who are all members of Nexus Music Academy in Albany Road, Earlsdon will be embarking on the mammoth challenge to mark a big year in the trust’s history.

The ride, being branded the Legacy Marathon Cycle, will see the team cycle 771km to Amsterdam – a kilometre for every student who has passed through the doors of Nexus since it opened its doors 30 years ago.

Anthony Hippsley, bass tutor and organiser of the school’s annual Rag Week, said: “Every year we do a charitable event to help raise money for the school’s budget and each year we up the level of difficulty of the event.

“We are at a pivotal point of our development as a trust and thought it would be great to up the stakes this year, and because of this strong sense of legacy we are going to cycle a kilometre for every past student that has graduated from Nexus.”

The cyclists are hoping to complete the challenge within six days. To follow the group’s progress or make a donation to the school on http://www.nexusragweek.co.uk.
