The first open day to give visitors to explore the Weaver’s House, in Upper Spon Street, Coventry, is on Saturday April 14.

The event will give people the chance to find out about the history of the building and visit the Tudor Garden.

They can learn about the life and times of John Croke, a 16th century weaver, and see demonstrations of traditional wool craft.

New for this year is the chance for people to try their hand at weaving on a big loom which was constructed last year as part of a “weavolution” event.

April 14 is the first of a series of monthly open days running until mid July at the venue at 120-122 Upper Spon Street.

There is no entry fee and members of the public can visit between 11am-4pm on open days. Refreshments will be served.

Organisers are also looking for volunteers to help with the venue’s Tudor Garden, which features a range of medieval plants.

Anyone interested should call in on the open days, contact info@sebpt.org.uk or leave a message on 024 7625 7117.
