Jubilee House, named to mark this year's Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, will be home to Kenilworth Town Council, Warwickshire Police, and Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright.

The building, in Smalley Place, was opened by Kenilworth mayor Dave Shilton and Warwick District Council chairman Felicity Bunker on Friday afternoon (February 24).

Townspeople were invited to take a tour and later enjoy afternoon tea, while winners of a competition to provide artwork for the premises were also announced.

MP Mr Wright also held an ‘open house’ on the site.

He said: “I am delighted to have my office in the heart of what is becoming Kenilworth’s new civic centre.

“Jubilee House should allow us all to work more efficiently and I am certainly looking forward to welcoming constituents to much brighter and more modern premises."

Jubilee House was formerly Kenilworth Police Station and police superintendent Bob Musgrove said the safer neighbourhood teams were now “looking forward to being located back in the heart of the community” following their temporary move to Leek Wootton while work was carried out.

All services at the new centre will be accessible from Warwickshire Direct next door, which will still remain the first point of call for all council and police enquiries.

In tandem with the purchase of the site, the district council has sold its Southbank Road site, former headquarters of the town council, for redevelopment as a sheltered care home, plus a new clubhouse for Kenilworth Senior Citizens Club, which is temporarily located at Jubilee House until its new home is ready.
