TACKLING problems of antisocial behaviour in one part of Warwick have been made a priority by local police following concerns raised by residents.
The Portobello Way and Kempton Drive area in north west Warwick has been the scene of long-running problems with antisocial behaviour from youths.
Police have now teamed up with Warwick District Council to combat the problem, for fear of the “broken window” effect and are increasing patrols in the area. Last year there were cautions given for possession of cannabis, and there has been some minor damage in the area.
Warwick beat manager PC Trent McMurray said: “It’s minor antisocial behaviour that is occurring down there.
“From my experience minor antisocial behaviour leads to the broken window effect. You get broken windows in estates which leads to minor crime which leads to the more serious crime, like drugs and burglaries.
