Fox in trouble?

An alarmed David Cameron called for a report on the Defence Secretary’s conduct to be delivered to him at No 10 by tomorrow. If MoD Permanent Secretary Ursula Brennan says Dr Fox has acted improperly, he will be fired on the spot, plunging the Coalition into disarray.

A Downing Street insider said: ‘The Prime Minister will support Liam while the process is going on – but he wants it over quickly.’

A source with close links to the Prime Minister was more blunt: ‘Liam’s behaviour is madness. The PM is very fatalistic about these things: s*** happens. If Liam’s got to go, he’s got to go. It looks bad.’
