A World War Two bomb found in a garden shed in a village near Rugby has now been blown up in a field.
A 1Kg device of the type which was found is shown against a ruler for comparison
Police were called at 1pm this afternoon (Tuesday) after staff clearing a vacant property in Rugby Road, Binley Woods discovered what is believed to be a World War II explosive device in the garden shed.
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Police cordoned off the area and members of the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended.
The EOD recovered the device, which is believed to be a one kilogram incendiary device of German origin, and removed it to a safe location in Wolston, where it was destroyed using a controlled explosion.”
