Armed burglars broke into a Coventry home and threatened a young couple with a gun as their children slept upstairs
Two men forced their way into the house in Latham Road, Earlsdon, at 10pm on Saturday and grabbed cash and mobile phones.
They also took the keys to the victims’ blue BMW 320 and escaped in the car.
It is believed the pair drove towards Melbourne Road.
They may have been followed by accomplices travelling in a dark Volvo S60 or S80.
Det Con Neil Wilson, who is investigating the incident, said: “The occupants weren’t physically injured but clearly they’ve been left badly shaken after being threatened with a firearm.
“The offenders were particularly callous as they’ve barged their way into a family home and put not just the occupants, but also three young children, through a very traumatic ordeal.
“I’d ask anyone who saw the incident, or the blue BMW or Volvo cars driving away from the scene, to contact me as they may have information which will help with our inquiries.”
One of the burglars is white and in his late 20s or early 30s.
His accomplice was a black man in his late 30s or early 40s.
The BMW was discovered on Tuesday parked in Tile Hill Lane near Hearsall Common.
Det Con Wilson, added: “I’d also be very keen to hear from anyone who saw the blue BMW being driven to the location where it was found and any information on the driver or other passengers.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Neil Wilson at West Midlands Police Force CID at Willenhall Police Station on 0345 113 5000 (ext: 7934 6968) .
