Dale Benkenstein's unbeaten 50 from 32 balls was the highlight of Durham's 145-5, while Paul Collingwood made 24.

Scott Borthwick's 3-19 proved in vain as Darren Maddy hit two sixes in his 40 off 26 balls, while Neil Carter made a run-a-ball 38.

Chris Woakes hit a boundary on the off-side from the final ball as the hosts finished on 148-6.

Durham remain fourth in the FL t20 North Group with 14 points but with only one game remaining.

Fifth-placed Lancashire also have 14 points but have three games to play, while Yorkshire, a point behind in sixth, have one game to go.

Durham's final game of the group stages is at home to bottom club Northants on Thursday.

Warwickshire's fourth win of their T20 season will almost certainly be in vain, with them four points adrift of qualification in eighth and an inferior run rate.

Warwickshire 148-6 beat Durham 145-5 by four wickets
