For the second day in a row, roads across a large part of Coventry ground to at a standstill after a big crash on the A46 this morning.
It was closed at around 8:15am between the Tollbar and TGI Islands after a lorry collided with three cars.
The lorry driver – a man in his mid-20s – suffered head and back injuries, while one of the car drivers – a woman – was trapped for an hour and a half with pelvic and leg problems.
West Midlands Police also had to close off the London Road from Asda to the Tollbar Island to ease congestion.
There was a further accident between a lorry and a car on the northbound M6 half an hour earlier, in addition to Tuesday’s multiple HGV collision on the southbound stretch between junctions 2 and 1, which saw the carriageway closed for nearly 10 hours.
A 38-year old man from Attleborough in Norfolk was taken to hospital with chest, pelvic and lower limb injuries.
Meanwhile in a separate accident yesterday, a 49-year old man from Leamington ended up in hospital after his Toyota MR2 left the road and rolled into a tree in Offchurch.
