A Nuneaton takeway is facing a £10,000 fine after it was caught with an illegal worker.
Border officials got a tip-off about the Pakistani man working at City Pizza on Dugdale Street and raided it last week.
They managed to catch the 34-year old as he was trying to run away.
The man has outstayed his visa and will now be deported.
The business was handed an on-the-spot penalty notice and faces a £10,000 fine if they can’t prove they carried out the right checks before employing him.
Alison Spowage, UK Border Agency West Midlands assistant director, said: “Any business that takes on a foreign national without permission to work should be aware that it is breaking the law as well as undermining law-abiding employers. Rogue businesses should be warned that they face heavy fines and could end up in jail.”
A thousand illegal workers have been removed from the region since April last year.
