A new tourism taskforce has been set up for Coventry and Warwickshire.
It has decided to explore creating a single website covering tourism for the area and so-called Big Weekends to encourage visitors to stay overnight.
The group includes representatives of attractions, accommodation providers, local authorities and transport companies.
The chair, Ricoh Arena chief executive Daniel Gidney, said it has to correct "confusion from customers".
He added: "They will see precious little joined-up thinking across the area and that has to change.
"There are at least half a dozen tourist websites for Stratford alone.
"A major aspiration has to be to market our attractions well enough as an area to encourage people to turn a day trip into an overnight stay."
Mr Gidney said there was a "unanimous feeling" it has "the potential to do that".
The group has been established by the Local Enterprise Partnership.
