It may never be known why a car veered into a bus, killing two people and injuring more than 20 school children in Warwickshire.
An inquest was unable to shed any light on why Chander Virdi’s Citroen C2 drove head-on into the bus on the A4177 near Warwick last May.
Mrs Virdi, 60, of Curzon Grove, Leamington, and bus driver David Franklin, 67, of Solihull, died instantly.
All the children on the bus were either from Aylesford School or Myton School, both in Warwick.
A 16-year-old passenger suffered serious leg and face injuries and was airlifted to hospital and a further 20 youngsters were treated for minor injuries.
The inquest, at Leamington Town Hall, yesterday heard Mrs Virdi had been shopping in Birmingham with friend Sukhbir Kaur.
Mrs Kaur, who was in the front seat of the grey Citroen, told the inquest she could not remember the accident.
“Her last words to me were ‘We’ll be home in 15 minutes’. I have no idea what happened after that,” she said.
